Ingredients:
- 1 package of Swiss Miss hot chocolate mix
- 1/3 cup of sugar
- 2 ½ cups of lowfat milk
- Optional flavors such as 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon of nutmeg, a dash of vanilla extract, or a tablespoon of your favorite liqueur
Instructions:
1. Boil the milk:
Put the milk in a medium sized saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Be sure to stir the milk frequently, so it doesn’t burn. You can even think about singing a little jingle like “Stir the milk, stir the milk, till it’s nice and thick” to make sure you don’t forget!
2. Add the sugar and Swiss Miss mix:
When the milk has reached to a boil, remove it from the heat and quickly stir in the sugar and then Swiss Miss mix. Once mixed, return it to the heat and simmer it for 5 minutes.
3. Add in the flavorings:
If you want to add any flavorings, such as nutmeg or cinnamon, now is the time. These will give the hot chocolate its signature Swiss Miss flavor. A tablespoon of your favorite liqueur can also be added for a sophisticated kick. If you’re feeling daring, you can even try mixing two flavors together for a bold new twist!
4. Pour and enjoy:
Once the hot chocolate is done simmering, you can now pour into your favorite mug. You can experiment with serving suggestions, such as topping it with a heaping spoonful of whipped cream. Lastly, sit back and sip away at your hot, frothy cup of Swiss Miss!
Making hot chocolate Swiss Miss takes a few minutes of effort, but is definitely worth it in the end. You’ll soon find your new favorite winter treat that you will look forward to sipping every time the temperature drops. Who knows, maybe you’ll even have enough extra to share with friends and family!
